OC What's your favourite gen, and why?

Hi /m/armoredcore!

As with a lot of people, I've recently got into Armored Core after all the hype surrounding 6.
I've played Gen1 to completion so far (actually preferred Project Phantasma to Master of Arena, contrary to what seems to be the main opinion) and am a few hours into AC2.
I consistently hear that Gen3 is the height of the series for many, so excited to get into that.

So far, I'm not loving the heat mechanics in 2, but I might still be adjusting. Found it interesting (and in some cases, frustrating) that being hit by weapons can increase your heat. Not looked too much into the meta builds for 2 yet, but overheating seems pretty unavoidable. I hear this gets better in 3, and is barely a thing in Gen4.

But yeah, what's your favourite gen and why?

Machindo,

I recently beat AC4:FA (3 times) in anticipation of AC6. It was a slow burn at first, then a switch flipped and I was obsessed with the tuning/customization.

It was so fun finding a melee only build that carried me through the hardest mission in that game (Destruction Ending)

All that said. I have only played AC2/3 so I can’t speak for AC1/5.

is ACFF heretical?

I've got a lot of nostalgia for 3 but 4 was the best.

2 and 3 are my favorites. I might have a bit of a nostalgia lens on them though. I really need to go replay the series again.

Gen1 has really grabbed me, and whilst I do enjoy the wobbly PS1 polygons, something about the enhanced visuals of the PS2 are that much nicer.
Have you played 4/5? From what I've seen they're wayyyyyy faster. Hoping to borrow a copy of For Answer at some point in the near future (hopefully before 6), and I'm slightly worried 6 may feel too fast in comparison to the early gens.
I could also just be playing Gen1 and 2 'wrong' and not flying around enough, ahaa. Seems like, AC battles in particular, you can just go for max turn speed and win everything.

I sadly have not played 4 or 5. I don't know why. I think I read something about 4 when it first came out and it turned me off of it. But for the life of me I have no idea what that was.

I actually like the slow movement of the mechs. Something about them felt so much more real unlike something like Gundam. I'm very excited for 6 but yes I fear it will be to quick.

Yeah, the sense of weight in movement and turning does a lot to sell that you're piloting a mech, and not just playing a third person shooter with the player and NPC models scaled up. Hopefully that's retained in 6; judging by the gameplay we've seen so far, it looks like it will be to a certain extent.
