I feel like sometimes random people just change your life in so many ways, like the girl who gave me a film camera in 2003 when I visited Kolkata, India for the first time. i haven't spoken to her in 20 years, but she gave me the gift of having my memories in still film photographs for the rest of my life
2003; so many firsts. First gf, first trip to India, first roll of film. It was the start of a long relationship with India, which I would return to over and over.
Literally the first roll of film I ever shot and in many ways, I feel like I'm still chasing that 'high' of being somewhere totally and utterly new, all alone, with only my camera as my companion.

I also remember people who influenced my life with seemingly small gestures. Sometimes I ask myself whether this isn't part of the meaning of life: To make something possible for other people, to give them courage, or to motivate them.
