I really don’t get why tech-people / developers blog on medium.

It’s such a shit ux with those popups everywhere, and whilst I get that setting up your own blog can be daunting to non-techies, it’s so easy for us tech folks. And cheap.

@michael it's because they promise to bring you a new audience, same as Substack. So the temptation is the same as ever, you try to go to where the people already are.

The smart and diligent ones write on their own site and then use the POSSE technique to broadcast out to those closed silos, scoop up viewers from there and eventually make a direct connection.

@alabut do people browse medium in this way? It never occurred to me that one would do that to be honest, but I guess that makes at least some sense.

@michael yep! For example Medium has got one of the biggest publications for UX here:

It ends up getting replicated and spills over to other places like LinkedIn but they’ve made this their primary hub to great effect.
