Got OXO stuff for wedding over a decade ago. Pretty much everything still performing strong and the 1-2 that aren't were replaced easily via web form from manufacturer.
OXO was my immediate thought as well -- I have probably less than 10 items from them, with the oldest being maybe 3yrs, so I can't comment on longer term use than that, but everything holds up and works extremely well.
My personal favourite is their salad spinner -- I make kimchi once a month, and it's strong enough to even spin dry a load of salty cabbage.
America's Test Kitchen often recommends their items too -- I think the OXO Good Grips Teflon pan beat out every other non-stick pan in their egg test.
I don't think a guaranteed replacement is the reason why warranties can contribute to something being BIFL: rather, the lifetime warranty is the manufacturer putting money on the durability of the item, which increases my confidence that they genuinely believe their product is actually durable.
It's still no guarantee and there are lots of other factors to consider, but I think taking a warranty into account is reasonable.
I've been looking for a fan that literally mechanically raises and lowers a large leaf-like thing (think Anthony&Cleo) in a pleasant wafting fashion. How does no such device exist?
I'm a huge fan of DiOro at least for silicone utensils. I believe their silicone spatula was the ATK recommendation a few times and I've bought a bunch more since then.
I have a set of 6 virtorinox steak knives from the 90s, that turned into general purpose kitchen knifes. They are now finally starting to become blunt. The black platic handles are smooth from use. 30 years on, ithink the time is approaching for them to be replaced. And that is only because I cannot sharpen the serated blades.
You might try Exofficio. While I can't speak on their traditional boxers or briefs, their boxer-briefs are great imo. They're comfortable and breathable.
And durable--I've had several for over 6 years and the only thing showing wear is the waistband--buy this is definitely a reflection on me because I got lazy and gained weight.
I originally heard of them from a reddit bifl thread, where I also discovered Darn Tough socks. I vouch for both brands and use them exclusively.
DeBuyer can typically be bought with no afterthought. Although that depends where you are. They mostly sell to professionals but are quire affordable.
Since the OP didn't specify, I'll suppose, in typical USdefaultism, that they meant the US. I don't know if DeBuyer sells there and I have no idea what their local brands are.
Jockey makes great underwear, their return policy is by far the most generous I’ve seen and it lasts for years. For a size small, they fit a bit better than Duluth Trading Co and Costco but I tend to wear their boxer briefs
Thanks! At the time I was seeking old-school grandpa type boxers to wear for bed. Currently looking for actual underwear though — just discovered recently that it was trunks that I was seeking all along afa day wear and not boxer briefs; so I'll see if Jockey has some
I still can't believe my plastic $25 Skullcandy headphones from before I got my Sony MDRs lasted me a good 8 years. They sounded average, but the bass was punchy.
Buy it for life: Durable, Quality, Practical
