FfaerieOxide, I read this as "Wildlife fighting force" an' though Canucks (no doubt off that wacky tobac) were throwing together squadrons to go scrap with badgers.
Then I thought maybe the fighting force was made of wildlife before I saw this was about fire.

Our fleet of Canada Geese will strike fear into the very souls of our enemies. There will be no survivors.
Six, (edited ) I think it should go beyond that even: natural disaster response teams. This should include firefighters, teams that can pile sandbags for floods, transportation of people to safe locations, cleanup after tornadoes, and so on. As climate change rears its ugly head, we are going to need something like this on a national scale.
Right now, sending in the military seems to be the default response from the federal government. It really ought not be the go-to solution, but an absolute last resort. Yes, it is good to have the army onhand for times of dire need of extra bodies, but it is a sloppy band-aid solution. People who are trained to deal with these situations and have the resources ready are needed. It is not an overstatement to say that lives are at stake.
