poleguy, 2 months ago @penguin42 @yrabbit I don't know the back story here. I presume you don't want to file the iron itself? I presume buying a soldering iron with a small tip is also no fun. So can you determine if it is the thermal conductivity of the wire limiting the heat transfer? Then just make the last bit of that spiral shorter. If it is heat transfer into the wire you could try coating the wire and tip in solder. Or did you already? Do you have a higher wattage iron?
