Why is the African Fish Eagle Threatened?

African Fish Eagles are affected by pesticides in water bodies – specifically a problem in South Africa. Under threat from Furadan poisoning and other natural phenomenon. Where predators like lions and hyenas kill their livestock, they lace the carcass with Furadan. The Fish Eagle - which occasionally will feed on carrion - ingests the poison. Other threats include: Overfishing; pollution and contamination of bodies of water, as well as drought and overuse of water resources.
