Stuff I should have done when my walls were open: should have insulated the hot water pipes (which would reduce the amount of time spent for people bleeding out cold water before showers). Too late now! #Energy#retrofit
And it fits nicely with my general house fixup guideline - attempt to do 100% of what's open/broken NOW.
Example: it's impractical & cost prohibitive to rewire all the knob & tube in my house at once. But if that wall needs anything done and has wiring in it, the old wiring gets replaced even if the problem I'm fixing is plumbing.
(I realize this is tangential to your situation, but it's advice I wish someone had told me years ago, so I spread it often)
@ai6yr Yeah, it would have been great if you could have realized sooner, but in all fairness, you had lots to stress over and figure out and ride herd on. At least, if I'm guessing right, your house is not in a severe climate situation.
@bosquebill Very nice... I think NM it's a lot more important than California (at least, has been). Southern California has yet to experience a massive pipe-breaking freeze event, so it's mostly just comfort level and water usage.
