Aww look how happy everyone is playing on their Mattel #Intellivision console.

This image is on the side of the box of my own Intellivision console. I need to set some time aside to give this new acquisition of mine a good go, but I doubt the TV image will look as clear as this picture on the box portrays it 😇

@jameswoodcock Intellivision was my jam as a kid - we had the Sears version but it played Intellivision games. Tron Deadly Discs was the best.

Mattel's Wood-Grain Wonder from 1979!

The Intellivision is a video game console released by Mattel in 1979. The word Intellivision is a portmanteau of "intelligent television". Over 3 million Intellivision units were sold and a total of 125 games were released for the console!

Submissions and discussion are focused on the classic Intellivision console, it's subsequent revisions, and tangential products such as Intellivision Lives and the Intellivision Flashback.

This also includes, but is not limited to:

Fan creations (hardware mods, art, memes, etc.)
Game development, either relating to programming of the original games, or modern homebrew development.
Behind the scenes stories and associated artifacts (scans of old documents, store receipt found an old box, etc)
Scans, ads, and reviews from various media, print or video, new or old (this includes old commercials, etc.)
Have an Intellivision, or INTV-adjacent item for sale? Feel free to list it.

Submissions concerning 'piracy' will be removed, but discussion, while frowned upon, is currently not a rules violation. (Just don't directly link to anything.)

If there is a game you're interested in, I strongly urge you to seek out digital collections and physical copies where available first before sailing the high seas. Despite many of these games being roughly 40 years old, many of the more popular ones are still being sold in some fashion. Those NOT being sold... well, that's an ethics decision you have to make for yourself.

As far as the Amico goes, /m/intellivision will not be taking an official position on it. Submissions concerning it are off-topic, however.

Piracy -- Officially you are discouraged from discussing piracy, and depending on the situation the post may be deleted. The INTV may be nearly half a century old at this point, but official products are still for sale (strangely enough). What you do at home or with friends is your business, let's just not get the kbin folks served with papers.
