that’s a beautiful design - maybe it’s because i need more coffee but how is this designed to be worn? regardless if i owned it i’d find ax way for it to be seen 😍

Hey, this is awesome. Just wanted to let you know.

iamdisillusioned, in Planning on getting a diamond ring? Try moissanite instead, it's far superior in practically every way

When I lost my first engagement ring, I could only afford to replace it with a moissanite. The moissanite definitely has more fire but the double refraction makes it oddly bright in sunlight. I found myself missing my diamond and ended up getting a lab diamond upgrade. Both beautiful gems in ever so slightly different ways.

Thanks, that's interesting to know. Btw, do you mind sharing what felt oddly bright about moissanite specifically? Was it too noticeable/distracting in your periphery vision? Haven't heard someone comment that about them before.

Samwizegamgi42, in Ring and pendant based on an infinity cube table illusion

Could you enlarge the cube just slightly so you could wear it, possibly in all 3 orientation?

You mean like a ring in and of itself, so that you put your finger through? I’ve tried that actually, but to make it comfortable you need to make the struts quite thin and the gaps tiny, and since the whole shape is one single line, it’s going to be quite prone to bending and misaligning when made from silver or gold.

It’s actually a problem with tables like this, they are quite wobbly unless welded from thick square steel tubing, and even then they’re not really solid.

It’s possible to make the ring both wearable and stiff in one orientation though.

Samwizegamgi42,

Oh interesting, makes sense. Thanks for answering and looks amazing btw

I'm curious to know your creative process for these designs

Besides the gem setting it's made with SubDs in Rhino. I made the basic shape out of simple faces, offset it and added/deleted/moved around various edges to refine the shape. After that I converted it to nurbs and added other details. Top row has subd smoothing turned off, bottom row has it on. Two images on the right are nurbs, shown with and without emap.

TragicNotCute, in I really like using organic shapes in jewelry. I feel like we don't really see enough weirdness in modern designs

I absolutely love this and couldn’t agree more.

I just saw this magazine in "random magazines" so I don't really have an insider's ability to appreciate it, but as an outsider to this craft, WOW!!!!!! this is so cool! I love it so much!

I'm just lurking here, not currently designing or creating jewellery but I love to see other people's talent and creativity!

Commissioned work, original illustration provided by the client. 3D printed to test, well, its printability before sending it to the workshop. Things like these are usually printed in wax resin and produced via lost wax casing.

Project page on Behance with a lot more renders and photos of production samples. Feel free to ask any questions if you're interested in the process.
