iamdisillusioned,

This year my car turns 14 (Kia) and my husband’s turns 22 (Acura). We consider ourselves to be “car people” and we probably would have replaced them sooner but the type of vehicles that we like are not very popular (sporty coupes and small lightweight trucks). We’ve been lucky and had to do very minimal maintenance so far.

iamdisillusioned,

Beyond that you’re risking a punch in the mouth.

Majority of Americans wrongly believe US is in recession – and most blame Biden (www.theguardian.com)

Nearly three in five Americans wrongly believe the US is in an economic recession, and the majority blame the Biden administration, according to a Harris poll conducted exclusively for the Guardian. The survey found persistent pessimism about the economy as election day draws closer....

iamdisillusioned,

My conservative parents have also been complaining about the economy and their financial situation. In April they spent 4k to get a box at a baseball game and asked me for money to pay for it, citing that its a special spend to celebrate my dad’s 60th birthday. Then last week I found out that they are going on a 16k eastern European river cruise this summer. Talk about temporarily embarrassed millionaires.

iamdisillusioned,

The map would be tough. If someone showed me the map and said, go to the kitchen, I would try remember, turn left then right then its around to the left. I would remember it in words, not visually.

Brown and pink dog…in my mind I see a hazy face of a poodle with fluffy pink ears. I can’t see the full dog. I can’t walk around the image and explore it more. Its just a hazy partial visual that flashes in my mind for a moment.

iamdisillusioned,

I’m the same. My mind is always churning. I’m getting evaluated for ADHD next week.

iamdisillusioned,

Difficult to execute advice doesn’t make it terrible.

I was awarded my 3 gallon award today for blood donations. (lemmy.world)

I am truly honored. I hope every blood donation I gave was able to help save a life. I always wonder about how the recipients are doing, and what circumstances led them to need a life saving blood transfusion. The blood bank keeps all of that private for security reasons, of course, along with the name of the donors who donate....

iamdisillusioned,

I’m not the person you responded to but for me its anemia and autoimmunity. Plus I have a tendency to faint when drawing blood.

iamdisillusioned,

Thanks, its manageable but my autoimmunity is chronic. I get bloodwork done regularly and it’s tough to get through those draws. I know there’s conflicting advice on whether those with autoimmunity should donate, but I hate the process and never feel well after even those simple draws. I try to make up for it by being an organ donor but I’m not sure that mine will be worth much when I do go!

iamdisillusioned,

I’d guess that regulations for earthquake safety make tall buildings very expensive to build. The only way it makes financial sense to build them is to put them in the most expensive areas and load the units with luxury finishes to increase profit. It’s far more common to see 5 over 1s, and yes there is a lot of resistance to even those.

iamdisillusioned,

Be careful, I logged out for too long and forgot my password and they wanted a copy of my driver’s license before letting me have access to my account.

iamdisillusioned,

Those numbers mean nothing without knowing the local wages. In my neighborhood the lowest priced 800 sqft homes are 950k and one bedroom rent is $2400. So your area sounds like a killer deal.

iamdisillusioned,

Yeah, I wasn’t trying to give you a hard time, just sharing how drastically different housing markets can be. I could sell my house in California and buy a 400k house outright from the equity that has accumulated. Alot of middle class Californian are doing just that, selling their houses and buying in the south or midwest with cash. It’s part of what is inflating your housing costs because your market is more affordable than mine. For comparison, the median houshold income in my city is 89k but the median house list price is 1 million, making your market more affordable and attractive for those that need some relief from inflation.

iamdisillusioned,

One floor of my office building is a very well known gaming company. They’ve been remote since I started my job in 2021, but they have started coming into the office recently. I’d say 75% of the people I’ve seen get off at that floor have appeared to me to be LGBT+.

iamdisillusioned,

You’ve got this! You sound like you have a solid plan and are ready to execute it. If you’re able to reduce your intake and wean a bit before the 20th, it will help.

iamdisillusioned,

So many but Lamictal is my current favorite.

iamdisillusioned,

I hope it works for you! I did a year or so of keto to lose weight and I felt great. Unfortunately I Iost too much weight and I’ve been struggling to find a good dietary balance ever since.

iamdisillusioned,

This is a discrimination case, which currently only applies to protected classes, such as race, religion, age, etc. But age discrimination can begin at 40 years old, so it’s a class that everyone eventually gets to be a part of…if they are lucky enough to live that long.

My new job wants me to write a bio for all of our clients and colleagues to see, but here's what's really going on in my mind if I could write an honest bio:

I have no choice but to work a job for survival although I am in constant pain, my feet, my legs, my back, my shoulders, which is ironic because here I am as your massage therapist so you might assume we’re impervious to pain, But no, not only am I your licensed massage therapist but I am first & foremost a Disabled Army...

iamdisillusioned,

We bought in 2016 with 50k down at 3.5% and our payments were $2,800. We refinanced and now our payments are $2,400. Zillow says if we bought our same house today, at today’s rate with the same amount down the payments would be $7,700, an utterly unfathomable amount.

iamdisillusioned,

My 4th and 5th attempts to find a therapist this year failed, but my psychiatrist said I’m one of their favorite patients, so I have that going for me.

iamdisillusioned,

If you don’t have 99 cent only stores in your area, you may not realize their stores are about 50% food and many people buy just essentials there. We also have dollar tree, which is mainly cheap crap. We just got a five below, now that store is entirely unneeded junk.

iamdisillusioned,

It’s true that items can cost more pound for pound, but there’s still a place in the market for them. I see a lot of elderly people shopping at the one near me. That demographic may eat very little and live in little spaces where it is hard to store bulk goods. They may have mobility issues and find it difficult to travel to Costco and carry/manage those large bulk items. Maybe getting rice and dry goods there is economical but produce, meats and breads may go bad before they are consumed in single person households.

iamdisillusioned,

I think they are pointing their fingers at “Biden” on the flag.
