Bleeding Control

How many people here have a bleeding control kit and took a training course on how to use it?

For gunshots it has some obvious relevance but is also useful for accidents and injuries not involving firearms. I will say that you should get a kit or supplies from a reputable source and not just Amazon. I've bought kits from North American Rescue but there are others that offer legit supplies.

Stop the bleed is a good way to find a course.

gentleman,

@borkcorkedforks I have a bleeding control kit and have put it to use (to help others) - thank God no firearms injuries.

HelixDab,

I do; I've got an IFAK that goes with me to the range that's set up mostly for bleeding.

Stop the Bleed classes are, IMO, okay. They're not great, but they're a start. The first, best class I took was about 8 hours, and included live practice on people afterwards. You had a chance to try a tourniquet on other people in the class so you could get an idea of how tight they needed to be (tighter than you think!). We didn't have the change to try wound packing in that class though.

I know that Grizzly Medical does training, along with others like him, that's more in-depth than basic stop the bleed classes.

The two sources I've seen for supplies that are reputable are NAR, and Dark Angel Medical.
