@AbouBenAdhem you can patent how you make rats and knock out mice, so kind of, yes. But not necessarily the living organism. The mice have been genetically altered to “knock out” genes (strings of dna that code for a protein). The organisms - the mice with the knocked out genes- are licensed as research materials. That is my understanding.

Lots of deniers, refused to mask up, infected all of the caregivers who were overwhelmed with the sick and the dead. They didn’t have enough beds or morgue space. So I have zero sympathy for people who put others at risk. There are a million dead, ironically many of them Trump voters. I give zero fucks for the antivaxers.

Today is another indictment day. An important one relating Trumps conspiracy to attempt a violent coup. Part of it was to use the Insurrection Act to suppress the population (I hate Mike Flynn). Anyone doing anything different in advance of a trial or 2024 by way of preparation?
So, #trump was just charged with a crime that carries a maximum sentence of death (conspiracy against rights, given that someone died as a result, multiple people did during Jan 6).
I feel like I'm seeing a lot of "oh wow, Trump was indicted for a third time", and not nearly enough "oh wow, look at how terrible the crimes Trump committed were. He could literally face a death sentence for his crimes". I mean he probably won't, sort of like how most murderers don't, but he could. It's pretty hard to commit a crime that bad.

Max Planck Institute has been at the forefront of much of this work, very solid source. I assume they were studying mitochondrial DNA because of the age of the samples.
