Now free for all to read... You'd expect to find many direct trains between Lisbon and Madrid - but in fact there are zero. This is how I made the trip by four regional trains:
@timrichards@trains@seatsixtyone .... Madrid to Lisbon is one of the greatest train rides on earth, a slow crawl, the ground fauna every color of the rainbow. Sit out on the rolling deck, wave at the local kids. Drink sangria.
@timrichards@trains@seatsixtyone@skinnylatte that’s making me nostalgic - I took the sleeper 20 years ago (how is that possible?) and it made for a smooth transition in my trip. I hope they successfully bring something back.

Oh crap, they eliminated the overnight sleeper? My wife and I took it on our first trip to Portugal in the reverse direction. Our first sleeper experience. That's really too bad!
