@Ex_spurt@aus.social

He/Him. Your friendly local, mostly retired guy. Likes sciencey stuff, cars (especially the electric and/or heavily armoured kind), wandering around in the bush, mucking around with food. Ex electrician, soldier, salesman, business manager, consultant, public servant. Proud dad and step-dad. Eternally frustrated customer of https://scorpinc.solutions. Partly retired. May randomly talk about #tanks. Opinions are my own and subject to change.

I am on a train with my backpack

We are now going through a tunnel. This is the airport line, but I won't be flying anywhere

The train and the bus has brought to my walk in the Perth hills

Late lunch on my hike in the vicinity of the majestic 'cock rock' in the Perth hills, joined by the obligatory local of course

A large phallic shaped granite rock
A wild grey kangaroo in the forest

Set up for my little bit of paradise in the jarrah forest tonight. It's come in overcast but BOM say no rain and it's too warm for the tent fly if I don't need it. If I'm lucky I'll be the only camper in the site tonight. Hikers only at this spot and midweek it's usually pretty quiet

Breakfast this morning in the Perth foothills, basic but with a certain je ne sais quoi

A hiking stove with a nearly finished bowl of oats and mug of coffee on a gravel pitch next to the foot of a tent

On the trail back to civilization and more locals out for breakfast

A doe and an older joey western grey kangaroo standing in front of a grass tree

@fitheach passed it again on the way back so took a pic for scale 😃 The lower edge of my hat is at about the 180cm (6ft) mark

I have made it back to the land of my people in time for lunch

@jpm a burger followed 🙂

The Government's big announcement on domestic violence looks pretty bad, eh?

"We might give you a few bucks to help run away if you're willing to let Centrelink treat you like shit for a couple of months while you smash your head against the dehumanizing process of begging disinterested public servants for help".

But what about the perpatrators?

"We're also going to censor the Internet"

Quiet 'quitting' should not be conflated with work to rule. Quiet quitting suggests skiving off and doing sweet FA while collecting a full pay. Work to rule is an entirely legitimate way to demonstrate the true value of your work and is even more effective when carried out collectively

I do not need a 200mW 405nm laser to point at the ghetto birds

Trying out my hiking pizza menu. All put together with shelf stable ingredients (no refrigeration required) and done on the jetboil. A damper mix for the base. Tastes good. Will taste awesome after a couple of days in the bush. Surprisingly filling too

Flattened out damper mix in a titanium pan on top of the jetboil
The finished pizza. Crust, tomato paste, oregano, garlic, pepperoni and melted cheese. What's not to like?

Ex_spurt,
@Ex_spurt@aus.social avatar

@jpm yes, oregano and garlic powder was on this trial version.

Ex_spurt,
@Ex_spurt@aus.social avatar

@jpm planning for hike with a weekbetween resupplies so need fully shelf stable products. Would use real cheese and pepperoni if it was just a couple of nights on the trail

Ex_spurt,
@Ex_spurt@aus.social avatar

@jpm the stock? I hadn't thought of that. Use it a lot in my cous cous hiking recipes too
