PugJesus, Explanation: Caesar, in his youth, was kidnapped and held for ransom by pirates. Amongst other curiousities of the story is that when Caesar, then a relatively unknown young man, heard he was being ransomed for 20 talents (620kg/1366bs) of silver, he demanded they INCREASE the ransom to 50 talents! A man has to know what he's worth!
livus, I loved this story until I got to the bit where he goes back and kills them.
PugJesus, Well, to be fair, they WERE a bunch of pirates. Getting killed is basically an occupational hazard.
livus, Fair point; still is to this day. But hi it's me again now let's crucify you isn't exactly feel-good like the other part.
PugJesus, Yeah, not nearly as charming as "I joked around and read poetry to my captors"
livus, Shades of "I can smile, and murder while I smile..."
I just realised we only have his word for it. He might have spent the whole thing sulking.
