@agenderfox there needs to be a new scifi series (not necessarily in Star Trek universe) that explores in depth all the ramifications of transporter technology.

E.g., if you can disassemble and reassemble any object or living thing, you should be able to instantly cure any injury or disease - just dematerialize and then rematerialize as desired. You could have instant cloning too. What else?

@agenderfox how does it even work, how do you store all of the data necessary to perfectly record the molecular composition of a living being, such that it can be reconstructed again from raw protons, electrons, and neutrons? [In reality you prob never can, because you can't perfectly record down to quantum level...]

@agenderfox what if it's not a bulk data recorder? What if it just reads your DNA, and understands that as a program defining how you would grow physically, and just re-executes all of the protein constructions that the DNA would have triggered?
