Today I learned about Project 4K77, a fan lead project to scan and restore the the original 35mm prints of Star Wars: A New Hope. https://www.thestarwarstrilogy.com/project-4k77/

That same team has also released 4K80, a restored version of the original 35mm prints of Empire Strikes Back. https://www.thestarwarstrilogy.com/project-4k80/
Thanks @genex for the info.

@docpop There's 4K83, as well! And all three are great!

@boogah is that one released yet? The site I saw listed it as coming soon.

There have also been several attempts to "fix” the prequels for grumpy old folks like me. Some sound interesting, but good luck finding them.

"Star Wars: Neon Noir", a cyberpunk inspired edit of I-III, replaced John Williams original score with Eno, Daft Punk, and other synth rockersjohn.

"The Last Turn to the Dark Side”, is actually two other fan-6-times-people-tried-to-make-the-star-wars-prequels-bettery.

Here’s a short write up of some of these prequel edits https://ifitwerebetter.wordpress.com/2017/10/20/6-times-people-tried-to-make-the-star-wars-prequels-better/
