Update to not being able to view lemmit.online from sh.itjust.works

Previous Post

So I can load other communities on lemmit.online from this server but they all only have posts older than 8-9 months. BoRU only has posts 9 months and younger. So whatever caused the disconnect happened roughly 8-9 months ago.

EDIT: Yup! Just reread this comment that mentions lemmit online’s outdated version and the the timeline matches right up. Mystery solved, but idk what to do about it other than messaging whoever runs that server.

I can confirm that we did ban the lemmit repost bot a while back. Many users were complaining about the volume of bot posts and lack of comments and found the whole thing confusing.

I will talk to the other admins and see if we can figure out some kind of middle ground, because I do see the value of being able to access a mirror of BORU from Lemmy.

Apytele,

I can go elsewhere if I have to but I really have enjoyed the vibe of this server. It’s much more authoritative than the alternately authoritarian or laissez faire governance of other internet spaces, even within the fediverse. Y’all are not hotheads OR spineless and personally being in a field where that’s a critical trait for success I really see that here.

Thank you. I just try to treat people fairly and communicate clearly, and let everything else fall into place from there. I really, really, appreciate when our users express satisfaction with our moderation, because the first few months were kinda rocky at times and I often felt like I was taking criticism from multiple angles. Ever since we brought in kersploosh and IEGS as admins, we have had a lot more positive feedback about our moderation. We make a good team.

I’ll be sure to let you know if we figure something out on this topic.

ime the best leaders get shit on for any decision because by simple logic if everyone agreed on something they’d probably just do it. Asking a leader almost by definition means someone isn’t going to like your answer, and the people who do often don’t say anything because they “expected you to do the right thing anyway” in a situation where in all likelihood all of the answers were wrong. I’ve been dealing with this at my job a lot lately. I like that overall people trust me and trust my instincts, but a lot of situations have had only wrong answers lately and I’m getting very tired. The leaders who don’t get shit on for their decisions are the ones who hide well enough (and they’re usually the absolute worst).

I completely agree.

Your work situation sounds frustrating, but in my experience these things usually average out over time. You’ll get an easy win eventually.

The bot is banned.

Apytele,

I don’t think so, because as stated in the post, I can still view posts older than 9 months from other subs from this server.

Also I’m not sure if the community you’re wanting to keep track of is an “interactive” one, but if it is the owner of lemmit removed all of those and is only allowing content only type communities.

That’s because they weren’t deleted. There was some posts removed before they banned it, but they didn’t remove all of them. View the profile you can see that it’s banned.
