iPhone overheating problems to be fixed with software update
Apple have identified a bug within iOS 17 that is partially to blame for the overheating issue experienced by iPhone 15 and 15 Pro users.
Alongside the iOS issue Apple points the finger at a few third-party apps that are “overloading the system” and is working with the app developers to roll out fixes. The apps Apple has identified are Asphalt 9, Instagram, and Uber. Apple claims Instagram has rolled out an update to fix the issue but you might want hold off using Asphalt 9 and Uber until they get updates too.
Apple said in a statement to Forbes…
“We have identified a few conditions which can cause iPhone to run warmer than expected. The device may feel warmer during the first few days after setting up or restoring the device because of increased background activity.
We have also found a bug in iOS 17 that is impacting some users and will be addressed in a software update. Another issue involves some recent updates to third-party apps that are causing them to overload the system. We’re working with these app developers on fixes that are in the process of rolling out.”
Apple also confirmed that the fix for overheating won’t affect the performance of the iPhone 15 and 15 Pro.
There was no word on when the iOS update will be rolled out but it probably won’t be very long. So keep a lookout for iOS 17.0.3 soon.
