Wow your system is such a random ramshackle collection of things, I love it. Have you considered just using a ICB as your main fish tank, much bigger space and no need to worry about glass tanks breaking,
Also, with your filter, won’t the coco fibre and straw break down over time? Won’t that clog the filter up?
The cococoir and straw clog way before they break down. Iv used cococoir in a timed system for years without any major degenerate before. The problem is it is so effective at removing free floating algae and solids that it clogs after a few weeks and overflows. After the media is removed its been making top notch potting soil though!
