Works by American sculptor Harriet Hosmer, 1850s-60s, known for her Neoclassical depictions of Greek and Roman mythology and history. She was one of the first professional women sculptors, spending much of her career in Rome due to restrictions on women in the US from using live models. She was also an inventor, patenting a process for making artificial marble, and designing a perpetual motion machine.

Carved marble bust of Medusa, in the middle of transforming into a Gorgon - the snakes are making their way across her hair.
