@thorn@jakehamilton I am just starting — ventured into Night of the Zealots today, playing 2-handed solo with investigators from the expansion packs, Harvey and Winifred. I'm having fun but making very slow headway while trying to internalize the rules and the logic of the game world, Grim Rule notwithstanding. And in my downtime I'm re-reading The King in Yellow to get in the proper mind frame for Path to Carcosa.
Ive played Winifred once and she was a lot of fun, but I played before the taboo’s on a lot of the fun green skills which I think would definitely lower the power level haha
Midnight Masks is a really good scenario (the first is a tutorial, and the third is decent but nothing remarkable, but Midnight Masks is honestly one of the best in the game its one of my go to “Ive gotta test an investigator” scenarios).
I really like Jacqueline if youve tried her, and Harvey is one of the strongest Seekers in the game (although every Seeker is kinda OP really)
Im about to go through Machinations through Time with my Mother and partner tonight, I’m playing Gloria (cheating a bit because she’s probbaly the single strongest person, but It’ll balance out the newer players) with William and Joe
@thorn@jakehamilton I'm looking forward to Midnight Masks, and preparing to be horribly mangled in the one after that. But mainly I'm looking forward to learning the game well enough to get into deck-building and thrashing about in different scenarios. I rashly bought the Dream Eaters expansion because the investigators look appealing, especially Luke, who I seem to have a card-crush on. Then I realized I need to track down the mythos packs — but no I am not obsessed, certainly not
@richardgrant@jakehamilton Dream Eaters is /fantastic/ but its one that can be a real pain if youre playing with a single collection haha
Ive gotta play Luke sometime, probably true solo, he seems really good with any “up to a location away” spells (Enchanted Bow seems really cool for this)
@thorn@jakehamilton I was scanning the annual BGG list of favorite games for solo play, and AH-LCG was like #4 or so, and I thought hmm that sounds interesting ... and now I'm like reorganizing my loft to make room to spread a million cards and counters and whatnot around. So I think I've solved my solo-gaming problem but now I have a deeper and much darker issue to contend with ilyaa n’ghft lw’nafh
