Should m/Chat have an accompanying Discord or Matrix?

Thanks for the input everyone. For now I've started a Matrix chat and put it in the sidebar for anyone interested. In the future I may consider also adding a Discord.

i used to be in a discord server with some friends and we… gradually fell out i guess. i miss having a discord community i could just jump into and chat when i had the energy for it. if you started one, i’d join it! i wouldn’t be available to chat 100% of the time, but i would absolutely pop in and participate.

This would be the perfect use for microblogs in my opinion, especially while the community is still relatively small and low on content.

I use Discord but I am open to trying Matrix. I think Matrix fits well in embracing the federated nature of it all.

Thanks for the input. I have been using Discord for quite a while now, but I am leaning towards Matrix due to the federated nature of it. My only caveat is just how many people would be willing to check it out vs Discord, which seems widely adopted, so it's good to know you'd be open to checking it out as someone who hasn't yet. Appreciate that.
