Elden Ring - PC

Obviously a little late on this one, but wanted it since launch so I picked it up with all the DLC. I’ve gotten to NG+11 on Dark Souls 3 but haven’t beaten any other fromsoft game, so I was very excited to see how I’ll fare on this one.

I’m enjoying it so far, have about 20 hours on my save and beat Margit around hour 11 (27 deaths). Currently working my way up to Liurnia academy. Took me a little bit to warm up to the open world + crafting… And honestly I’m still not totally sold on it, I think I’m reaching a point of open world fatigue. I love the freedom it provides in games but I do miss more linear experiences some days.

That’s all my thoughts so far. I love FromSoft games even if I’ve only beaten one, so I’m not surprised that I’m enjoying this.

iamak,

Oh hey I’m currently playing Elden Ring as well. I’m a bit ahead of you (~90hrs in the game). I guess I’m somewhere in between mid game and late game.

What’s your build? And did you progress in the last few days?

Edit: Deleted spoiler stuff. I guess spoiler tags aren’t working?

MetaCubed,

I always go for a STR build in fromsoft games.

I’ve progressed up into the north west, finishing the raya lucaria academy and the caria manor, now just trying to defeat both of the dragons in the area before checking out the lesser erdtree and then finishing stormveil.

iamak,

Oh nice. Which all NPC quests did you start?

I always go for STR build

Oh? Any reason?

MetaCubed,

I have a hard time following the npc quests for fromsoft games for some reason so I just kinda go roughly where I’m told, I don’t really know what quests I’ve done unfortunately…

Re: str build

iamak,

hard time following npc quests

Lol I just used Fextralife to keep a track of those. Too much of a hassle otherwise.

str build

Lol. Which weapon are you using currently?

MetaCubed,

Currently using the Claymore at +10 with the bloody slash ash of war on it. Building my str so I can use Leonine the Misbegotten’s Grafted Greatsword

iamak,

Oh nice. If you want I can tell you where to find a OP melee weapon. Its pretty good and I’m using it even now

Firstly, welcome to the community.

Secondly, Elden Ring was my first real venture into Fromsoft games. And you know what? I think it was a perfect stepping off point. The open world gave me (a newbie) the perfect space to figure the game out; what it was asking off me and where I needed to meet it halfway on certain things. As @chemical_cutthroat has already said, the world can be as large and expansive as you want it to be. For a newbie like me it allowed for a lot of trial and error, and even more grinding, but if you’re looking for a more focused game It’ll allow for that as well.

Obviously it’s not perfect (no game is), but eventually it got its tendrils into me and didn’t let go until I’d beaten the game after 120+ hours. In the year and a bit since I beat it I’ve beaten Sekiro and (a week ago) Bloodborne. Both are amazing games but neither has quite topped Elden Ring for me.
