Eller’s importance to the 2018 Capitals cup run cannot be understated.
He scored the OT-Game winner that got Washington their first win of the playoffs (and stopped Columbus going up 0-3). He moved up the lineup when Backstrom went down with a bad hand. And then to cap it all, he scored the Stanley Cup winning goal against Vegas.
“IT’S ELLER! IT’S 4-3 CAPITALS!” :( hopefully he comes back to DC for his last hurrah. Even if it’s a one-day contract, it feels wrong seeing him not in a Caps sweater.
He was my favourite player during his time on the team. Always worked hard, always reliable and always capable of helping the team, even if it meant his own numbers took a dive.
