Old fantasy books often come with low resolution grey-scale maps. I enjoy taking those, making SVG copies, and colorizing them.

I enjoy a lot of Feist's earlier works. If you've only read The Riftwar Saga, I strongly recommend Daughter of the Empire as he really fleshes out the Tsuranuanni.

The Serpentwar Saga and The Conclave of Shadows are two other series of his I'd recommend as well.
