Introductory post

This is another subreddit I'd really, really miss if/when reddit goes down. Indie and alternative are my personal favorite genres of music, and indieheads is currently my favorite way to find new releases and old classics.

For now there's no real rules of Lemmy's indieheads except these guidelines from the original subreddit:

We are purposely vague on a definition of "indie". In general, music & news posts from these genres are not allowed:

Mainstream Rock/Metal Mainstream Pop Mainstream Hip Hop/R&B Mainstream Electronic & EDM

This is to encourage posts with music from more independent & underground artists. Experimental music & underground acts that exist within the banned genres will be allowed, at the discretion of the mods. Music & news from all genres can be discussed in the Daily Music Discussions.

Feel free to ask questions, upload music, and have fun!

MagicPterodactyl,

I really hope we see more regular reddit indieheads users move over. I've been part of the community since around 2015 and I'd love to see it live on on Lemmy.

Same!

mounderfod,

Hi, figured I'd let you know that I'd also had an Indieheads community on a different, smaller instance but that I've deleted it to reduce fragmentation (there weren't any posts anyway), glad you've set one up on the main instance as I don't have an account there :)
