Is it normal that posts from other instances aren't synchronising to my home instance? I know that federation can be slow, but it's been several days since I subscribed to the instance and still nothing is showing up. The same has happened with other communities as well....
IMO this is a wholly negative development, the whole point of federation is for the instances to be connected and beehaw has effectively isolated themselves entirely :/
there's too many comments and posts for me to view all of them, so the way that we can deal with them is you, the glorious people of 196 reporting them as you see them.
Yeah, I'm a bit worried because there was recently talk in my home instance of defederating lemmy.ml because the owners are apparently far-left... thankfully I think there was consensus against it but you do start to worry that the whole thing might descend into tribalism with rivalling echo chambers...
I'm making a client for Lemmy but am planning to make the calls myself rather than use a library, is there any good documentation of the HTTP API that I can use as a reference?
Amazon's Ring cameras were allegedly used by employees and third-party contractors to spy on customers. The FTC has filed a complaint against Amazon, which may result in a $5.8 million settlement. Employees had unrestricted access to customer videos and could download, save, and share them. Some employees abused this access,...
It's easy to discover communities on my instance via the dedicated page in the hamburger menu. But let's say I want to follow a community on another instance, such as !lemmy . I might have found its name mentioned in a post or comment. When I click on the provided link, I'm thrown on that instances web page, from which I of...
Would it be possible for there to be a cookie or something that stores the home instance of the user that other Lemmy instances can then read and redirect the user to? I'm not very knowledgeable with stuff like that but it sounds like it could work
This is another subreddit I'd really, really miss if/when reddit goes down. Indie and alternative are my personal favorite genres of music, and indieheads is currently my favorite way to find new releases and old classics....
Hi, figured I'd let you know that I'd also had an Indieheads community on a different, smaller instance but that I've deleted it to reduce fragmentation (there weren't any posts anyway), glad you've set one up on the main instance as I don't have an account there :)
Other communities aren't federating properly?

So far Lemmy is vibing. Everyone here is excited and optimistic and willing to put up with a few rough spots to be part of something....

How does federation work with the "subreddit" model?
Hi, I'm new here, so sorry if this has been asked before....
Introductory post
This is another subreddit I'd really, really miss if/when reddit goes down. Indie and alternative are my personal favorite genres of music, and indieheads is currently my favorite way to find new releases and old classics....
