Approx 30 mins ago, I suddenly lost access to lemmy.ca due to DNS resolution failures. I’ve managed to restore access by tossing the known good IP into my computers hosts file, in order to make this post....
If I message a user who is from another instance, do they actually see the message and can they respond? Not clear from the documentation if this works.
So here I was checking to see if the Blue Jays Lemmy was being updated, and when I went there it says “No posts”. I checked from Lemmy.world and the posts show up fine (ie lemmy.world/c/torontobluejays@lemmy.ca). I checked my languages (made sure undetermined it selected) so I’m stumped - any ideas?
I’ve been attempting to create a post in !motorcycles that has an uploaded image as the URL. The image uploads fine, and I double checked the URL to ensure it’s valid, then I enter the post info, select a language, and hit create....
It’d be nice to (eventually!) see a link laying out a privacy policy for the instance, something like: newsie.social/privacy-policy...
If I locally to go the lemmy.world community at https://lemmy.ca/c/lemmyworld@lemmy.world I only see posts that are 4 days old. However, going to the community externally at https://lemmy.world/c/lemmyworld lets me see all the posts. For example, the post https://lemmy.world/post/241226 is missing in lemmy.ca...
Hi there - I joined Lemmy a few days ago and subscribed to a bunch of communities. A large number of them are still stuck on "Subscription Pending". Why is this? Is there any way I can get my subscriptions to go from pending to active? Thanks!
This is turning into a deal breaker for me. It doesn't matter what instance I'm on, or what I have selected from the dropdown (or browser I'm using), but "new" posts are constantly flooding the feed list....
Does Lemmy use the ActivityPub protocol? If so can a Mastodon client be used to interact with Lemmy communities?
I'm wondering if this is an issue with this instance, or a deliberate choice by either server operator which communities to federate between lemmy.ca and the other server?...
Hello! Set up 2FA with authy, logged in on Connect, never a problem logging in on Firefox. Downloaded eternity and I get a bad 2FA error when I try and log in. Firefox takes my user and password now, pops up the 2FA box, but then doesn’t load/give an error message. Is my 2FA unsynced?
I’m getting a little tired of seeing 90% of my feed filled with news from Israel and Gaza… on Voyager, you can filter your feed based on keywords, but it seems that the Lemmy web UI only allows for blocking of instances and users....

Right now, robots.txt on lemmy.ca is configured this way...
I’ve run into some bad mods in my years online, hoping for support in dealing with bad moderators. Is there a code of conduct oversight team?
I’m trying to subscribe to !digital, but it can’t be found on this instance. Also !mtg only has a post from 17 days ago. Is there a reason it’s been defederarated?
Just as the title asks, where is lemmy.ca hosted?...
