@MrJameGumb Bobbins, floss caddies, all fabric in a computer bag, most tools in floss box with one section always open for ORTS (cleaned out following each project). Also have some "Stitch Folios" to keep hoops, larger fabric scissors, some craft baggies and a few other things in like pin backs, D-rings and split rings (for key chain fobs), etc. Extra skeins are in a gallon sized ziplock in the same computer bag as the fabric. I use the Thread Stash app to help keep track of embroidery floss.

Right now I’m working on getting all my floss for upcoming projects onto bobbins and in the floss box! I started using a cordless drill that makes winding the bobbins much faster now lol

@MrJameGumb I still do all mine by hand. 🙂 I have a bit of OCD, especially when it comes to organizing cross stitch & other creative supplies. But I'm also a little strange to most people because I actually enjoy winding bobbins almost as much as I enjoy stitching. I think I was just wired to love textiles, art, crafts--anything creative altogether, whether it has to do with the supplies to make pretty things, organizing them, designing a new project, kitting it up--whatever. I just love it all!

I actually kind of enjoy winding them by hand too! I just have so many that I’m behind on that I needed to speed through some of the backlog lol

catsdoingcatstuff,

That’s a very nice cart! I keep all my stuff in big clear plastic bins in the closet, organized by category/item (fabric, floss, beads, projects, etc). Lots of smaller bins and bags inside. It’s not pretty, but it keeps the light, dust, and cats away.

I’d like a cart for current projects. That would be nicer than pulling out my bins all the time. :)

catsdoingcatstuff,

Oh, one thing I do that’s helped me with floss is break it into separate groups for storage. Mine are roughly in sets of 200s by dmc number. More empty space in the containers, but less annoying to shift when I buy new colors.

I was very happy to find the cart on sale for $30 at the craft store! I even added a little hook on the side for my rulers! Before this everything just kind of stayed precariously balanced on a little table and was constantly getting knocked over by the car lol

catsdoingcatstuff,

Good idea for the rulers. That’s a great find for $30!

My cats have a magnetic attraction to everything they shouldn’t touch. They will stay off my desk for weeks, but are always around as soon as any thread or yarn comes out…

@catsdoingcatstuff @MrJameGumb Especially while winding Bobbins so the can get tangled up in a free end...

iheartneopets,

Dump it in a bin, shove it in a closet, and don’t think about it until I start a new project when I then think I really should get a better system. Repeat.

nyan,

Organized? 😅 The most I do is containerize the loose floss to keep the thread-eating cat from getting into it.

The two boxes on the top shelf there have helped me keep things organized somewhat but it’s a pain anytime I have to add new floss because I have to shift everything to fit the new ones in
