How much is too much?

EDIT: READ THE SIDEBAR BEFORE COMMENTING HERE

There’s now going to be a war against Iran, and the US media is portraying Iran as the aggressor, even though Israel blew up Iran’s embassy. THAT should have been a call to end support for the genocidal ethnostate of Israel and call for a ceasefire, but instead we’re doubling down on support.

Also, friendly reminder that Israel would not be able to do this without US support. Biden could have ended this, but chose not to.

What is your defense now? How can you still justify supporting this genocidal maniac? How low is too low for you? How much suffering is too much? How many lives have to be ended or destroyed because of Biden? How much is enough that you are willing to protest, speak out against it, or at the very least not defend it in some deranged manner with “aT lEaSt He’S nOt TrUmP.” People are dying. Imagine being the caliber of person who can excuse this and say this, or even approve of him and say he’s doing well.

Literally the only way to look the other way is by convincing yourself that Iranians and Palestinians aren’t really human. “Scratch a liberal, and a fascist bleeds” – maaaannnn I used to think this was a bit overstated, but it’s really no exaggeration at all, is it?

Edit: Lol at the right-wing neolibs who can’t help but parrot their genocide-defending bullshit in spaces where they’re not welcome. Thanks for providing examples of exactly what this post is about. Imagine thinking the person who is literally making a genocide possible is also the person who is “best for Palestinians.”

Crazy how US support for Israel is still “ironclad” (cnn) - they bombed an embassy, the response is a barrage that according to Israel did no harm.

the only way this breaks out in a large scale war is by Israel using this as an excuse to escalate.

I frankly don’t think it will escalate, but crazy empovered people do crazy empowered people stuff sooo…

I definitely hope you’re right. This headline makes it sound bad, but if you read further it does seem that Iran’s response has shown remarkable restraint, considering the circumstances, and I’m hoping Israel will take the out.

But I too am a bit cynical, considering Israel and the US’s history of going full scorched-earth at the slightest provocation.

PLEASE read the sidebar. Comments like “Trump is worse” or lecturing people about how/if they have to vote will NOT be tolerated here and will get you a temp ban, and a permanent ban if it persists. I’m not sure how much clearer I can be on this point.

some_guy,

Fuck Israel.

Donate to legal funds for those who get captured by police on April 15th or get your ass to a demonstration. This needs to stop.

GTFO of here with this bullshit. Yes. Biden is a piece of shit. Still better for the US than Trump, the ONLY OTHER CHOICE. I don’t like that the US government supports Israel at all, but no matter who the president is that’s going to happen. I prefer the one who doesn’t also want to turn the US into a dictatorship. Read Project 2025. Your post is essentially campaigning for Donald Trump. If you don’t understand that you’re either naïve or stupid, or you do understand that and you’re arguing in bad faith. Either way, see my first sentence.

callipygin,

I’m sorry but Trump would be doing the same thing and worse, and he will once elected. Voting for Biden is still the best choice for Palestine

No one said Trump is better, and you’re defending someone who’s committing a genocide. Thanks for providing an example of the type of fascist-enabling rhetoric we keep hearing from liberal centrists, though. Really validates my post.

Stelus42,

They’re not defending Biden personally, and they’re not saying you shouldnt protest. They’re saying “Don’t forget, on election day you still have to go and vote for Biden because Trump will be worse”. Unless you’ve got a better proposal on how to handle the election specifically, their point is perfectly relevant and doesn’t undermine anything in your post.

I don’t have a clear answer other than dissolving the United States, which would do the world a whole lot of good. Saying “I intend to vote for Biden because…” is fine; saying “you need to vote for Biden” is not.

They’re saying “Don’t forget, on election day you still have to go and vote for Biden because Trump will be worse”

This is not allowed, per the rules:

Discussion, not debate. It’s okay to ask someone to elaborate on an idea, but most communities shout down leftists and post-leftists, and that’s not supposed to happen here.

One of the reasons I created this community is because I noticed that communities that try to welcome right-wingers and centrists tend to shout down leftists, attack strawpeople, and constantly “whatabout.” Specifically, I’ve noticed a tendency to go “whatabout Trump” every time Biden is mentioned. This is not okay and will be removed on sight. This stifles discussion.

kittenzrulz123,

Your argument describes exactly why I despise Liberals. This stupid whataboutism argument will do no favors for the left.
