Can I clean the gunk out of the bearing without disassembling?

My EDC is a Buck Sprint Pro and it's getting difficult to open. The knife has a bearing at the pivot point, and dirt is getting in there. I want to clean it out and regrease it, but I really don't want to take it apart if possible. I will if I have to, but I've never disassembled a pocket knife before.

If you do end up wanting to take it apart I really recommend getting some high quality torx bits. The cheap ones will end up stripping your screws and then you end up with an even bigger headache. I'd pick up a set of wiha bits off amazon or directly from their site. At least that way if you do take the plunge to take it apart you'll be ready to roll with the right tools.

You can wash it with soap and water, opening and closing it repeatedly, then rinse well. If you have a compressor or air canister, blow out it out thoroughly, then put it in a sandwich bag and spray it with wd40 and let it sit in there for a while. Take it out and wipe it off a few times / blow it out, add a few drops of your preferred lube to the pivot and work it in a few times by opening and closing the knife and you should be good to go

PrunesMakeYouPoop,

Thanks, I'll give it a go.
