My SGI Octane!
I turned my Octane into a bad ass workstation for cruising the deep web :D https://lemmy.sdf.org/pictrs/image/0e5b70e1-917c-4ac1-9d0b-1f59899780ca.png

attero,
praetor, It's pretty skippy for a 20 year old machine. It's an octane 2 with a 400 Mhz processor.
Borgzilla, Is there a way to browse SSL websites on this version of IRIX?
praetor, Yup. We ported netsurf to IRIX a while ago which is a nice little browser that does SSL.
Sailor_jets, I have 2 octane's. Both would be better utilized as boat anchors. Cool to see one working!
praetor, Well, git 'em fixed!
Sailor_jets, I would like to, that's why I bought them lol. It's just that those fragile connectors kinda freak me out and from what I read I need a special monitor? I don't know too much about SGI machines since most of my collection are IBM/IBM compats.
fnord, Looks nice! My old Octane has been sitting in its box since I sold my ex-ex-ex house in 2017. I know Nekochan is gone, so what’s the go-to place for software these days, Irixnet?
praetor, SGUG is really the place https://SGI.sh
Nisaea, Oh dear, the mushrooms in the background!!!! I think I still have that picture somewhere! :D
praetor, AHAHA. Gotta have the digital blasphemy background for the late 90s vibe!
DrNeurohax,
Borgzilla, I remember having this wallpaper back in the early 00s. Really cool wallpaper :)
esm, What web browser is that?
praetor, NetSurf we ported it to IRIX a while ago :D
underscorner, awesome! are you running irix or linux ?
praetor, IRIX of course :)
PrivateNoob, Is this what they call, SOUL? Looks pretty cool ngl
praetor, Thanks! :D
