@asolitarybear Regarding the bugged FF1 spells, LOCK is sold in the level 1 black magic shop (Coneria), TMPR is sold in the level 2 black magic shop (Pravoka), LOK2 is sold in the level 3 black magic shop (Elfland), SABR is sold in a level 7 black magic shop (Onrac). LOK2 is particularly bad as it increases enemy evasion (the intention was to lower it).

The BigEYE enemy uses a skill to paralyze. Skills are not affected by the silence status. If it's sold in a magic shop, MUTE works on it.

@asolitarybear You might like a source such as Caves of Narshe, which can toggle between the North American NES and PlayStation localizations of character, spell, monster, and location names. Final Fantasy Wiki on Fandom also has a page of translations you can search, to help avoid the confusion you had with PURE potions.
