Why is all of group 18 good until the bottom? Radioactive or worse?

the_beber, (edited )

Yes radon and oganesson are radioactive. Generally everything heavier than lead is radioactive. The rest in this column isn‘t dangerous, because these are noble gasses and don‘t (typically) react in any way.

Fosheze,

They’re all inert noble gasses until you get down to radon which is radioactive (second largest cause of lung cancer). Then you get to oganesson which is so violently radioactive that it doesn’t exist unless we make it exist.

knorke3,

And at a half-life of 0.7ms, even if made to exist, Oganesson really doesn’t do so willingly and will stop that at the first chance

argh_another_username,

Do you lick Uranium?

hydroptic,

Haven’t had the chance yet but I wouldn’t say no to licking uranium

knorke3,

just watch those isotopes :)
