I can’t use it at all with any third party clients. I can only open the instance site.
I saw the email on Friday re: LetsEncrypt certificates for personal homepages. Checking my own personal page, I see that it’s b0rked right now- hanzo.sdf.org and hanzo.sdf.org take me… well, not to my home....
Hello all! I’m tickled pink to have my application approved to join this instance. I suspect that the bar isn’t all that high, but just let me have my fantasy....
I view Lemmy from the mobile site on my phone and there’s a link on the top right of the page that opens this video on YouTube… is there a joke I’m missing here?...
SDF Japan located in central Tokyo is now hosting Lemmy....

Anyone else have a few communities stuck in “Subscribe pending” for days and days? Does this need manual intervention? (New to Lemmy)...
Hey all! I was a casual reddit user and wanted to explore a different route. I’m just your typical geek. I recently de-googled my pixel 6a because I was bored. I’m an avid Linux user. I’ve had a sdf account for quite some time and am getting back to using it more (also I paid for an upgrade but it never happened. What’s...
I created an account, but never received the password by email, and now I’m stuck at the door. :c
Looks to work well with Chrome, Safari, Edge and Firefox. However, you may need to logout, clear browser cache, close and restart your browser for success....
Realized that I haven’t done my “introduction” post yet!...
Seriously, I've been looking around for a Lemmy instance that I felt particularly drawn to/that shared common interests and sdf.org literally fits that bill. I'll probably be lurking more than posting, but I really like this place. Thanks for approving my request!
Has anyone made or found a community where we can dump links to our own published posts, without trying to claim that it has any quality or relevance to anything? I know I could make a Mastodon account and post links for anyone who cared but a melting pot of people thinking about different things sounds kind of nice.
I’m subscribed to different communities on other instances, and the posts there did not appear on this instance for the past 3 days....
I'm new to lemmy....
This is my first post. I drifted away over the years, but started out on a Symbolics 3670. It was a revelation when I discovered this (along with the first generation Sun machines to run it):...
Has there been any public discussion about what the SDF mastodon instances (mastodon.sdf.org and social.sdf.org) plan to do if #Project92 comes to pass and meta/facebook begins to federate with ActivityPub instances?

I am trying to use Jerbora and it saying the server version (0.17.4) is too low....
SDF is my favorite instance hands off, but I noticed it's way slower for me than other instances with inferior setup. I measured the time of loading posts and communities, and it's loading around 3-4 times slower than other instances. I am based in EU. Regardless, I will continue to use it, as I love you all here on SDF :)...

Could the Meta NDA be used as a trojan horse? Anything Meta discloses to a developer/admin could be legally used against them if they acted upon the information. Not just leak of information shared, but modifications to Mastodon or Pixelfed that go against Meta's pursuit of success in the Fediverse....
Hello everyone! Been an SDF member for many years. I'm an open source contributor and software engineer who's recently decided to cut ties with Reddit. It saddens me in a way because I've been a member there under a number of different names since the early days; I joined pretty soon after the demise of Digg. Unfortunately, the...
