No_Ones_Slick_Like_Gaston,

There’s a moisturizer from Neutrogena with SPF protection, I use that on dry and winter days, all other days after shave I do the Nivea after shave balm in the whole face.

Dove for sensitive skin prevents me from getting oil glands over excited.

Any days going out in the sun have at least face sunscreen, which I cycled trough different brands until I found a Korean one thats light and does not turn white on my face when I sweat, which is always when is over 80f. Most of these are not crazy expensive and your skin will pay back with less wrinkles and overall younger looks.

lath,

A part of it is diet. Take notice of fat and sugars excess as they affect sweat, which then provides nutrients for the microbacteria cultures living on your skin.

JayleneSlide,

Some background: I’m Vietnamese, and everyone in my extended family has a legendarily bad complexion. Hell, most Vietnamese people I’ve ever met struggle with acne and a T-zone riddled with open comedones.

What broke the cycle for me was water-only + changing my pillowcase every day. And it didn’t take long to see results, maybe 10 to 14 days. I find now that it’s one or the other on a day-to-day basis. For example, if I have to use soap on my face, I need to change my pillowcase otherwise I’ll get some small pimples. But as long as it’s water-only, I can change my pillowcase weekly with the rest of the bedding.

CluckN,

I’m racist but only to the 800m, what an awful distance. Too far for sprinters and too short for an endurance race. The only way to be good at it is to specialize in mid-distance which stops you from peaking in any other speed or endurance race.

flyweather,

Do you think this post is racist or not?

Repelle,

Just dropping in to say that I’m pretty sure this is the first time I’ve ever seen someone say “I’m not racist” and I actually think it’s true as far as the statement/question in context was concerned.

bibliotectress,

Honestly, skincare advice is the only thing I still look at reddit comments for. There are some REALLY knowledgeable people on r/skincareaddiction with great routines in a wide range of affordability, and others who comment with their own results using the same/similar routines and products. I would have no idea what I’m doing without having learned there first.

OkGo,

Use shea butter bro, natural and organic, you don’t need a lot and it’s good for ethnic skin. For skin problems such as pimples etc use a paste made of ground turmeric and gram flour (1:1), leave it on for 30mins then wash off.

awwwyissss,

A mild face wash several times a week after showering might help clear up your skin, which doesn’t look bad anyway. Probably good to focus on the “T zone” which includes your nose and forehead.

Don’t overdo it, like doing it too often or getting hot water on your face. Your skin is trying to do its thing and if you wash away the natural oils it can cause problems.

Not sure about using cocoa butter, maybe it’s too heavy for your skin? Many people use a separate face + neck moisturizer, you could get some with some SPF to protect you as you age. Good luck!

rockSlayer,

I mean, I suppose it depends on how young you are. I’d guess you’re about early to mid 20s, and just judging from this picture your skin looks pretty clear and your brow has a lot less furrowing than mine lmao. Products designed specifically for black people are generally more expensive, but those types of acne creams, pads, and moisturizers should do a lot for you. Especially avoid alcohol based face wipes, they’ll dry out your skin like crazy. I’d recommend using something with witch hazel. In the shower, use a facial wash or wipe your face with a soapy hand towel. Between OTC acne treatment and a little more shower scrubbing, that should address your acne concerns. You’ll definitely want to keep moisturizing, if only to avoid the acne treatment from causing dry skin. Cocoa butter should probably still be fine, but if you’re really concerned about the forehead lines, get some proper moisturizing cream

Just dropping in to say your skin looks great.

flyweather,

Thank you but that definitely isn’t true:)

I have deep lines on my forehead and pimples/small scars strewn about on my face. Some of this might not be a function of my poor routine but a lot of it is.

Use sunscreen regularly to prevent further wrinkles and line

Dkarma,

Dude your skin is fine. The things like lines and scarring can’t be helped.
The single best thing you can do for your face is keep it UV protected. Second is hydrated.
I use very light Neutrogena SPF 70 daily. Seems to help me with both.
