Bad Batch Series Finale (Spoilers)

Overall I think it was a very good series. Season 1 was decent, season 2 got really good in the back half and season 3 was very good throughout.

After season 2 did explore more of the “clones after the war” plotline I was hoping for a resolution this season but it is “The Bad Batch” not season 8 of clone wars. I do hope they finish that story though, seems like a single season special could do it but not sure they’d want to do that.

I do like that the brainwashed clones were just regular clones, not like resurrected Tech or someone else we knew. Not everybody needs to be a known character.

Was quite surprised to see the whole batch survive, definitely thought Crosshair would’ve done some self sacrifice to save Omega but a happy ending for once is nice.

Glad Rampart went out like that, we didn’t need another redemption arc for an Imperial. And Hemlok got what he deserved.

Overall I think it wrapped up the series nicely, there are a few unanswered questions but hopefully they will be addressed in other upcoming media.

I liked it, overall.

But I agree there are parts that felt a bit flat. I was rather surprised and excited about how Cowboy Dave was retconning the utter stupidity of ep 9…

explicit finale spoilers....until the data banks were destroyed, the Empire seeming not following the 3 2 1 rule - shout out !selfhosted - so the question of how the fuck we ended up with thousands of Palpatine clones is still a mystery box of shit writing. I’m expecting the final scene was to set up crossovers within other Dave-led productions, I’d presume time jump to Adult Omega is around the time of Rebels (5BBY, give or take), but how any of that will line up is beyond my best guess.

Ultimately, I’m going to miss this particular view in to the SW galaxy.

I thought assaj pretty much said omega was not force sensitive.

Anyway I thought it was great. I really thought one of the main clones was going to die to be honest. Thought that for a long time. I’m glad tech stayed dead. But overall some of the best Disney star wars

Asajj basically implied she was Force sensitive, but was better off with the Batch than being taken away for training somewhere.

My take was thatOmega was modified to be able to maintain her midichlorian count through cloning. Now, how much that was - and if it was enough to be considered force sensitive - is a separate point. My presumption has been “higher than average, but not a jedi”, mostly cos Jedi Jango is an insanely OP proposal.

Yes, I agree that every being has an m count but most have not enough to matter. But my understanding that she was important because her m count was from cloning and that’s what the goal was to clone m count/m count beings

But yea show didn’t do a great job explaining because of it was just her m count then the other kids should have been just as special. She was MORE special because hers could be cloned or something… No idea lol

I don’t think the kids were clones, I think what they were actually doing was extracting midichlorians from them for tests using clones.

Omega was proof that a clone of Jango - who would all have the same m-count - can have it increased.

In turn when testing the blood of the clones / Omega, it being higher than that figure is proof that whatever modification they did had worked.

Big picture, I really think Star Wars animation is peaking. The wide cinematic shots of ships crossing in front of the camera have really captured OT vibes. I think this was a good closure to this story, while leaving a lot of space for spinoff stories. Echo, as the focus of an anthology series about different rebel groups, could be great (I’m thinking “Tales of the Rebels”). I think Rex is getting over-saturated and I’m ok with just knowing he was off doing things.

Potential opportunities for spinoffs/appearances:

• Omega developing more force sensitivity and using it to “train” some of the kids they rescued. Not so far as Jedi, but closer to Chirrut. If it focused on connecting with animals, that’d be great too.
• Echo doing quests with pockets of the rebellion.
• The bad batch popping up as side characters in missions with a focus on them working with old clones and helping them have a life after being a soldier.
• Ventress. She has to have some sort of light/dark vigilante role.

I think Ezra has the beast master thing down well enough that adding more of them would take away from his uniqueness a bit. Would love to see casual Force adepts with no lightsabers or attachment to the Jedi/Sith dichotomy, though.

Liked it a lot within the context of the show. Left me a little unsatisfied in regards to the bigger context of the Star Wars universe. It kinda felt like one giant side quest. Really good series overall. Very memorable characters (which is saying something for clones). Fantastic art, animation, and voice acting. Music was solid, too.
