That's three now. I don't usually post what I didn't get, and mostly I don't get them, because I've never heard them before (UK selections, for example) but if I've heard a song before, I remember it, maybe not the name, or artist, but I know I have heard it before. Like this one, first note, but never remembered the name

@tc_morekindness Giddy Up! @teamheardle
My parents listened to old country. Jim Reeves, Hank Snow, Hank Williams, and they all sounded twangy. New country, on the other hand, became very popular in dances in early 90s. I had to play it, and naturally, once I have heard it, I remember it.
Many of the songs I learned the words to, just because they were requested often. Same with Rap, I can sing Eminem songs, Nelly, Sean Paul, all from shows, I know the songs well.
That's how country got in

tc_morekindness,
@tc_morekindness@c.im avatar

@Rasta @teamheardle You (and your mother) have taught me "Gentleman Jim" Reeves. I think I can recognize the voice now.

Rasta,
@Rasta@mstdn.ca avatar

@tc_morekindness @teamheardle
TBH, Jim Reeves had some good songs. Eddy Arnold too (Molly) and so many iconic ones. Most people don't know them today, or remember them, but they were as well known as any earworm you hear today.

tc_morekindness,
@tc_morekindness@c.im avatar

@Rasta @teamheardle I've heard of Eddy Arnold. I just listened to Molly.

tc_morekindness,
@tc_morekindness@c.im avatar

@Rasta @teamheardle Yes, I was talking about Molly lol. Listening to all that twang and parsing out what was behind it.

Rasta,
@Rasta@mstdn.ca avatar

@tc_morekindness Oh, that. All country had that twang and nasal sound. But you still had to like Weird Willie @teamheardle

tc_morekindness,
@tc_morekindness@c.im avatar

@Rasta @teamheardle Weird Willie? Willie Nelson?

Rasta,

@Rasta @SocialSpirit @teamheardle They were signed to Motown in 1969 and their records were on the “Rare Earth” sub-label. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rare_Earth_(band)
