I fixed it by:

• opening the machine
• desoldering the SPI NOR flash that holds the #bios
• dumping the flash content with a USB programmer on an other machine
• downloading/extracting the latest BIOS update file from Lenovo
• merging the dump and the update binary using #imhex and instructions from the internet
• flashing the reconstructed BIOS to the flash chip
• soldering it to the mainboard
• praying and booting the machine

Wow, I've never been so glad to see a boot logo on the screen!
