@winterschon I installed #KDE Neon on a #Thinkpad P14s and everything worked out of the box including WiFi, power management, the printer, and the fingerprint reader. Fantastic experience
Folks are enjoying the Fedora and @centos booth at Red Hat Summit this week. Come check out the ThinkPad X1 Carbon and Slimbook Fedora 1 if you're here!
Thanks to Lenovo and Slimbook for these awesome devices that come with Fedora preinstalled!
Hey X1C fans,
had anyone such strange battery charge behavior? As you can see in the screenshot, charge rate is very low.
My X1 Carbon Gen8 (20U9) loads the battery only very very slowly, happens on both USB-C ports.
The charger works fine on another 20U9 device. The BIOS was updated to the latest version recently, no change.
The net knows a lot about charging problems with Gen7 and Gen9 but nothing about Gen8.
I updated my old #ThinkPad#T60 with the latest #Manjaro Linux. Boot this machine after the last system hiccup that I thought the motherboard had been faulty. I can't wait for Wayland.
Operating System: Manjaro Linux
KDE #Plasma Version: 5.27.11

Kernel-Version: 6.8.8-2-MANJARO (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: X11

Memory: 2.9 GiB of RAM
Graphics Processor: i915
Product Name: 1951BJ2

Looking forward to setting up my used #thinkpad with #linuxmint next week. Looking for recos for easy syncing, mainly for my #emacs and #orgmode stuff. What have you used that you could recommend? I do have GDrive working well on my Windows machines, so could go that route,, though not familiar with how to do that on linux. Thanks!
I had bought a T495 second hand from Taitonetti.fi and I thought it didn't have backlight. The trackpoint and the buttons from the trackpad were not working when I got it, so I thought it was not compatible with Linux perhaps. Today I saw a video on how to replace the keyboard and I thought, let me see if there is something wrong with the keyboard. Guess what? The keyboard is working properly, a ribbon cable was not properly inserted. Now fully operational.
Dalton asks us when consumer computers peaked which stirs up a debate about various generations of XPS and ThinkPad laptops, trackpads vs trackpoints, P-cores and E-cores, and more. Plus follow-up on the devices and software we trust.
Just upgraded the screen on my old ThinkPad X220. Now rocking a new/old-stock IPS panel. It's looks lovely. AliExpress for the win for less than £40 shipped! #ThinkPad
I have obtained a beautiful IBM ThinkPad 560. Unfortunately, there are no signs of life when power is applied. However, it's in such lovely shape that I have no choice but to repair this.
A while back, I sprayed sparkling mineral water all over my ThinkPad keyboard. Despite drying it immediately, the keyboard always malfunctioned after that incident.
I purchased a replacement keyboard from TellusRem, as they are considerably cheaper than the Lenovo originals.
I can report that the TellusRem keyboard is every bit as good as the original.
My laptop is kinda falling apart and I am considering buying a refurbished #thinkpadt480 :thinkpad: 🤔 It's way cheaper than buying a new one and if I slap #linux on that bad boy (I'd do that anyways) it might just be awesome...
Littlun's #thinkpad wont power on or acknowledge a charger. Searching to make sure there's nothing I missed when I found a page that gives the following troubleshooting steps:
Check cable for damage
Do a power reset
Update the battery driver
Update your BIOS
Switch to a Chromebook
It's like they wrote 4 steps and then went "ah, you're fucked mate"
I might have posted about this already, but it looks like a cat must have landed on my laptop pretty hard when it was closed one day, because now some parts of the screen are brighter than others.
It's an old lappie, but I've come to love it (it was also a gift) so I am going to try to replace the screen. The videos make it look easy.
I'm still under the weather (enough to get another 3 days of sick leave from the doc 🤧), but thinking of dear friends old and new (and hoping none of you are suffering in misery like me 🤪).
While I have a new friend to keep me company, I haven't mustered enough energy to play with them yet... which is so out of character for me coz usually I'd be jumping on such a new friend 😍
