Three years ago today, I walked into the doctor's office. I was carrying a letter from my therapist, explaining why I've felt so lost and disconnected from myself for decades. I went home that day with my first prescription for estradiol.
The years since have been a revelation. I did expect that transition would make me more comfortable with my body, but that was just the start. My confidence shot up. My relationships started clicking again. That old feeling of living a lie is gone. I'm even aging backwards, somehow! And strangers are caught by surprise by any hint that I'm trans.
