This is some WW2-level air combat.

I guess it makes sense, though. A number of the UAVs involved are defenseless, and are just relying on height to be safe. They aren’t fast or stealthy.

I was talking earlier about how gun-armed, possibly jet-powered, UAVs might be a reasonable counter to UAVs. They can move quickly enough to intercept an incoming UAV, don’t have to be positioned at one point the way static defenses are. With ground-based defenses, the attacker gets to concentrate, can push everything through one area, whereas the defender has to spread out their defenses.
