Ok, I give up. Again I stumbled across some things I couldn't fix in a Jetbrains IDE. It is very much the same situation as with PyCharm. This time I was stopped by emmet being limited to a subset file types and two more or less dysfunctional plugins.
@x_hace From my point of view it is the same wine in different bottles. My point why I consider the switch is not, that vscode is to slow or so. It is more about the monopoly they are establishing. I might be wrong about it…
When in the early days MS visual studio was like necessary to do some work with C# and TFS for CI/CD, I did not really mind as at the time we were developing for Windows anyways.
Now when working with different languages and tools VS Code even on linux has plenty of plugins to support that and still feels "light weight".
The more plugins installed the more locked-in it feels though.
@x_hace Yes, it is so convenient. For Python for example I tried to switch to PyCharm, but it didn't work because of some minor tooling problems I couldn’t resolve. But maybe I can switch over for my little Go projects. ;) Or return to VSCode again.
@aohorodnyk it is pretty personal. I am not happy with the situation, that Microsoft is more or less establishing a monopoly in the area of dev tools. I love to have choices.
