I totally agree with the authors point that opposite genders should be able to be friends. But I find her edit kind of odd… sure she doesn’t “owe” him anything but he doesn’t “owe” her anything either. The guy clearly misunderstood the relationship and being rejected by someone you really like hurts. It’s as if she expects him to immediately turn off his emotions and start hanging out with her platonically.

Edit: Also as soon as the guy said men and women can’t be friends she shoulda noped out of that friendship. Total nice guy material right there.

The idea that People who are sexually attracted to each other cannot be friends is the height of immaturity for me.

It shows that the person expressing it thinks that sexual attraction trumps all other human interactions.

Or assume the default is sexual attraction. I’m not attracted to every woman that crosses my path, and it’s sexist to think I can’t see them as people, attraction or no attraction.

I get there can be damage from past relationships, because people are crappy. However, there needs to be trust there.
