@chris that hit hard, I did a bit of “modern” theming a few months ago, and had the same thoughts around separation of concerns. Debugging where styles are coming from is not fun 🥴
@chris I've been developing for WP for over 15 years and had a chance to try FSE after eschewing it until it became "stable" - or so I thought. It was a complete disaster. The examples in the WP FSE docs simply did not work and there was no clear roadmap on how to develop FSE sites that wouldn't be deprecated in a year's time.
After seriously trying and spending weeks, I had to give up FSE development completely. I went with headless and Astro + WPGraphQL and could not be happier.
