The opening promo from Adam Copeland on this week’s #AEWDynamite was weird and felt forced. Him doing a pump up speech about how great/fun #AEW is after Punk’s recent comments just felt minor league. Then later on the same show they book an all-time awful match where Jay White gets beat up by Billy Gunn of all people for like 15 minutes straight then it ends in a DQ. Jay White’s run in AEW has been absolutely criminal.
@timbowman I couldn't agree more...and their show hasn't been exactly "must-see TV" lately. Like I don't want blood for the sake of blood, make it mean something. Make it mean someone is getting their ass whooped. Having Texas deathmatches on weekly TV doesn't really make much sense....😬🤦♂️
I really want them to be and do good. They're just having a hard time understanding what Professional Wrestling is all about.
There's no super good "must-see" storylines. The Christian Cage/Copeland angle was good and the Swerve storyline is 🆗 but nothing is like Cody/Rock and Roman right now.
Another somewhat middle-of-the-road #AEWDynamite
this week, which usually happens right before a PPV as they don't want to give anything away or risk anyone getting hurt when they've got big matches coming up.
Considering how strong the Revolution card is, it's hardly an issue that the go-home Dynamite didn't exactly blow anyone's socks off. They played it mostly safe, with one notable exception which I'll get to.
@ArnoldBooker@wrestling Yeah. Not quite sure what went wrong there to lead to that. It seems it was mostly Madison Rayne controlling her own momentum. Not sure if she was expecting something else or just didn't know how to take the move or what.
Prior to this match, Madison Rayne hadn't wrestled a match for 6 months (Aug 2023). She definitely looked pretty rusty in the ring.
Thoughts on #AEWDynamite - A meh show with some low points.
FTR vs. BCC was a decent match and a nice build to Revolution. Time limit draws are becoming a little too common and predictable though.
Cassidy vs. Bennett... Jeez. Undisputed Kingdom has been stone cold since the devil reveal and Bennett's loss to Cassidy cements it. Stick a fork in it; it's done. All the devil hype for nothing, mostly because the main protagonist was injured.
Garcia/Christian announced for Revolution. Garcia cut a decent babyface promo. Christian's promo about Garcia's mom and dad was truly brutal. I love Christian's work. Loved his heel work in TNA and I'm glad he's found that same form in his AEW run.
The women's matches were brutal and didn't make Purrazzo or Storm look good. Purrazzo dropping Madison Rayne straight on her head looked really bad and I'd be shocked if she wasn't injured.
Darby/Sting promo was decent. Apparently some things were changed as Sting's father legitimately died, which he brought up in the promo.
Love Sting, but I just don't care about the Bucks. Feels very forced and I personally find the Bucks cringe.
Wardlow's in-ring promo was pretty rambly. Came out to whine about his booking(?) Went on to reference CM Punk. They really like referencing the stop starts from the other company in AEW, huh?
Ospreay vs. Takshita is something I'm actually interested in at Revolution. Should be a great match. Really like Ospreay.
The main event was a tag-team soup for some reason throwing Swerve onto same team as Joe in that whole "can they co-exist" thing that WWE likes to do. Whatever.
Seemed Hangman Page may have received an ankle injury during the match though that may alter plans for Revolution.

Despite some negative online chatter and reporting over the past week, as a #prowrestling fan, I’m looking forward to #aewdynamite this week. The card looks great! #aew
