The Connecting the Unconnected funding program from the Internet Society Foundation supports organizations working to build and expand Internet infrastructure to connect people living in rural, remote, and low-income areas.
The program focuses on projects building new complementary access solutions and expanding existing complementary access solutions.
As much as I am excited about the opportunities provided by LEO satellite systems to provide #InternetAccess and #ConnectTheUnconnected, one of my big concerns has been what happens as all these satellites burn up in the upper atmosphere. All these LEO sats only have about a 5 year lifespan… then they “de-orbit” and burn up. What will the effects be? What will be doing to our planet?
