I got a single pound of Gesha green coffee at a pretty reasonable $10/pound. I usually buy at least somewhat cheaper greens, and I try to resist fads and hype in coffee.
I tried a pound of it years ago when I was less skilled as a roaster and had a less controllable machine. That did not impress.
This time I made a mistake in my roast. Damn. Technically bad, but OK
First cup now. Wow. Unique and amazing. Fruity. Floral. Long flavor experience through and after the sip
Just for fun, here’s a list of current vendors of green coffee. Sweet Marias, but I’ve also been very happy with a few of the other vendors: Happy Mug for price, Hacea, Prime Green Coffee, The Captians Coffee, and Klatch for quality.
Sweet Marias is fantastic for several reasons:
They give great detail and information about each coffee
*They try to work with good farms, to assure supply and make sure the farmer stays in business
*Education
Stovetop Roast #1309: Honduras HG
The post-roast inspectors have not identified any foreign matter in today's roast. This roast developed a tad bit faster (30 seconds to a minute) than the last time I roasted beans from the same batch using the same profile two weeks ago. This was probably due to the roastery (AKA the kitchen) being a couple degrees warmer. The inspectors did find 46.5g of defects (including peaberries). #CoffeeRoasting@coffee

鍋焼き焙煎1308号:ケニヤAA
3ヶ月ぶりのケニヤ焙煎焙煎後の検査官がまた小石を発見しました。
Wife made regular “dripolator” #coffee this morning, just to change it up since we’re always drinking #Nespresso lately. UGH. Tasted horrible. But I never thought so before the Nespresso. What’s truly sad is that if we ever bought a mega expensive #espresso machine and started pulling gourmet shots with rich crema like you see in them Youtube videos, we’d probably think exactly the same about Nespresso :-)
Off to make a pod coffee to get this blasted taste out of my mouth.
@dhrystone While I don't mind espresso, I prefer manually brewed coffee (pourover, plunger, syphon, etc.). I just have it neat, without anything to adulterate the flavour.
